Sweet and Sour Meatballs
Well, I have to get this other birthday recipe up also today...it was the birthday boy's meal request - sweet and sour meatballs. I think if I would have agreed to have them ready for his breakfast he would have had them as soon as he rolled out of bed, but I did hold him off until 11:45am when the rest of us could at least stomach them as an early lunch.
Here is the list of ingredients for the meatballs:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound ground sausage
- 4 slices bread
- 3/4 cup milk or real buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons organic oriental seasoning from Frontier
- 2 eggs
Put all of the above ingredients in a bowl and mix well (that is until you can't differentiate all of the individual ingredients).
Place good sized balled up meat on a broiling pan.
Cook at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes and then serve with the sweet and sour sauce over fluffy baked brown rice.
Here is the list of ingredients for the sauce:
- 2 cups pureed tomatoes (tomato sauce will work fine too)
- 4 teaspoons prepared mustard
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 Tablespoons Braggs Liquid Aminos
- 4 Tablespoons vinegar
- 1 cup water mixed with a Tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 cup SUCANAT
Put all of the above ingredients in a blender and puree.
Then heat over medium heat while stirring, until the mixture comes to a boil and thickens.
