Prasing the Name of Jesus

This Sunday I am doing the transition between worship songs with a prayer, some scripture, and a few short words that will bring our congregation into a place of worship as we continue to sing.  I thought I would share what I have prayed about and put together for tomorrow morning so it could be used like a worship devotional for those of you, who like me, find music a very special way to worship the Lord.

Here it is:

Oh Jesus, You gave Your life away and in doing so You showed us the depth of the Father's love while at the same time the inconsequential meaning that the things of this earth hold in the light of eternity.  Thank You for the gift of salvation and for your humble and perfect sacrifice of love and grace which Paul tells us in Philippians 2 is the "..reason...God highly exalted [You], and bestowed on [You] the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, and of those who are in heaven and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."  (NASB)

As you join us in the singing these next two songs before the message, try to keep in the forefront of your mind how the name of Jesus has been set above all names and how anyone who calls on Jesus in faith, He promises to come to, abide in their lives, and reign over all their circumstances with His magnificent and glorious saving power.

Thank You Jesus!
