Egg Foo Young Recipe

I have been asked many times to add this recipe to my site and so I decided to make egg foo young for dinner tonight so I could get pictures taken of how it is made and then be able to share this simple egg and meat recipe with you.

Here is the ingredients you will need:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1 to 2 cups fresh bean sprouts
  • 12 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • butter for frying
  • sweet and sour sauce (see recipe below)

First brown the ground beef with the onion and let cool a bit.

Next, mix the eggs, salt, and the cooled ground beef. Add the 2 cups of bean sprouts to the mix if you want to make all the patties with bean sprouts - I only made half with sprouts this time.

Now, butter a griddle, and then ladle on the egg mixture.

When cooked on the one side, flip and cook on the other side.

When half way through cooking the egg patties, add the bean sprouts if you didn't at the beginning.

Finish cooking the rest of the patties.

Serve over fluffy baked brown rice with the following sweet and sour sauce.

Here are the ingredients needed for the sauce:
  • 1/4 cup Braggs liquid aminos
  • 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons SUCANAT
  • 2 teaspoons vinegar
  • 3/4 cups water/chicken broth/cooking water from the veggies made for dinner (I used all the water I cooked the pea pods in)
Whisk together all the ingredients above and cook over a medium heat until it comes to a boil and thickens.
