When our family started changing our diet it was a huge shock to our bodies which were severely addicted to sugar. One of the ways I appeased the need for sweets, especially chocolate, was to create a healthy go-to food for my kids - chocolate granola.
Here is how simple it is to make:
First dump all of the dry ingredients together in a roasting pan:
10 cups old fashioned oats
2 cups pecan meal
1 cup freshly ground flax seeds
6 Tablespoons cocoa powder
Mix the dry ingredients and then add in:
3/4 cup melted coconut oil
1 1/4 cup warmed honey
Mix well. Then put into a 300 degree Fahrenheit oven to cook for 1 hour, making sure to mix every 15 minutes.
Let cool and store in an air tight container. It will last for weeks - that is if you can keep everyone in your house from eating it for that long.
